The Plural Warmline information

What Is The Plural Warmline

A free warmline where Systems & their Headmates can share their stories & worries with a trained, lived experienced peer support Plural volunteer via email, live chat, sms texts & calls.

A warmline is a line you reach out to before you reach a potential point of crisis. Our warmline for Plurals provides early intervention with emotional support that can prevent a crisis.

*Systems is (one of) the word(s) used to describe the collective of Headmates by people with Dissociative Identity Disorder, OSDD and all other forms of Multiplicity under the Plural umbrella.

Many people wait till the last moment before they call a crisis line. They might be afraid to get sent away or told their problem isn’t bad enough or they aren’t a danger to themselves or others and can’t use the service.

Many Plurals sadly have the experience of not being believed, not being treated as Plural whilst desired, not being understood or heard or are denied personhood.

This is where The Plural Warmline comes in and fills the gap. We do not replace a crisis line and definitely not 911, instead we invite Systems and their headmates to share their stories and worries before they reach a point of potential crisis.

Our trained volunteers copy the language you& use and are most comfortable with, to describe your System, Headmates and Plural experiences.

What is The Plural Warmline NOT:

We are not doctors, therapists, social workers, crisis line volunteers or suicide prevention workers.

We legally cannot give advice, but we can give information, listen, share our own lived experience and offer support.

We do not replace crisis lines, suicide lines, hot lines, 911 etc. Instead we are an additional service which Plurals can call before they reach a point of crisis, which lowers the risk of reaching crisis.

FIRST TIME CALLERS:

Welcome to The Plural Warmline

If you are Plural, no matter the label you use to describe your individual and unique experience with Multiplicity or what we call ‘Manyness’ we welcome you to give us a visit. We know that reaching out to a warmline can be a big step.

Hence we hope to provide you with all information you need to feel safe and secure to make the call!

When you call us, you pick the table that matches your own lived experience or need best. Our Plural volunteers do the same!

This means that the person on the other end of the line, has the same sort of lived experience as you and we hope that feels welcoming to both you and your headmates, to share your stories and worries.

The Warmline provides calls in English but we are working hard to ensure The Plural Warmline will soon be available in more languages, starting with Dutch and Spanish.

All you& need to know before calling The Plural Warmline for the first time:

When you& call us for the very first time you can just click the big purple button that says ‘Enter Airmeet’. It will ask you for some details and if you like you can use a System name and fill in any random location.

When you join you see our room with tables. Each table has two chairs. One for the Volunteer and one for you and your System. Both you& and our volunteers pick the table that matches their own lived experience best. We have a welcome table, specifically for Plurals who call us for the first time!

Help us save some money – Please make a free account:

If you and your System plan to call more often, we welcome you to please create a free account and login in the top right corner. When you create an account we pay less for your calls.

Since our nonprofit depends fully on community and ally support, this is an easy and free way to help us save some money, which enables us to provide more free calls to Plurals in need.

We do not report to authorities, we cannot call 911 or other services for you, as we do not track you and hence have no access to your details.
